Hakkaisanson Shrine is a spiritual landmark at the foot of Mount Hakkai in Minami Uonuma
The Hakkaisan Memorial Shrine majestically sits on elevated ground in the heart of a mountain, boasting a panoramic view of the countryside landscape below.
There is a large stone torii gate at the entrance to the shrine that stands over 8m tall!
The area becomes particularly lively at the start of the mountain climbing season in late July, and for the Great Fire-walking Festival later in October.
Behind the temple is a famous soba shop and smaller moss-covered shrine by the Mt. Hakkai Osaki Trailhead.
