Located at the fifth station on the southeast side of Mt. Naeba (2145m), one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains, this is one of the most hidden of all secret hot springs. Visitors are required to have full mountain trekking equipment.

It has three hot springs: Ao-yu (clear spring), Yakushi-yu (""Medicine Buddha's spring"") and Tamago-no-yu (egg spring).

Directions

● 40 minutes by bus from Echigo-Yuzawa Station, JR Joetsu Shinkansen Line, then 3 hours 40 minutes' walk from the bus stop
●30-minute drive along R17 from Yuzawa IC, Kanetsu Expressway, then 15 minutes' drive up the Akazawa Rindo road from Naeba Ski Resort. It is 2 hours walk from the end of the road

Opening Times

●Season: April 21 to early November 2020 (closed in winter)
●Opening hours: 24 hours - all baths are mixed bathing from dusk to dawn. Day trip visit also welcome
