Earth Celebration

The Sado taiko (drumming) ensemble Kodo is renowned around the world for its performances and each year Kodo hosts Earth Celebration on its home island of Sado, inviting artists and cultural figures from Japan and around the world to engage in diverse cultural exchange in the rich natural splendour of Sado and seek to create alternative global culture. Over the course of three days a rich variety of stage performances are held, including drumming, singing and dancing, coupled with other events including workshops, fringe events and experiential programs, that enable festival goers to enjoy nature, history, performance art and good food. In addition, a harbour market is also held at Ogi Port Park, which always attracts many people to this pretty spot by the sea and under the blue summer skies.
