Arriving in Niigata by Air
The Gateway to Niigata: International & Domestic Flights

From Niigata Airport, Niigata Station in the city center can be reached in approximately 25 minutes by airport shuttle bus.

JR East Pass (Nagano, Niigata area)
Unlimited travel on JR East lines, including Shinkansen services, within the designated Kanto and Joshinetsu area
*You cannot use the JR EAST PASS (Nagano, Niigata area) to travel on the Tokaido Shinkansen. (This is because the Tokaido Shinkansen is run by another company)
*The areas between Minami-Otari and Itoigawa on the Oito Line and between Itoigawa and Joetsumyoko on the Hokuriku Shinkansen are not included in the pass area.
If taking the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Itoigawa, you must purchase a separate basic fare ticket and Super (Limited) Express Train ticket for travel between Itoigawa and Joetsumyoko.
*Gala Yuzawa Station only operates during the winter and spring.
JR TOKYO Wide Pass
Unlimited rides on the JR lines (including the Shinkansen) in the Kanto area centered on Tokyo
Hokuriku Arch Pass

To drive in Japan, a valid driver’s license is required, such as an International Driving Permit or a license that is officially recognized in Japan.
