Rankeisou Inn rests in a secluded valley along the gentle flow of the Sumon River, surrounded by waterwheels and traditional charcoal-making huts that evoke the quiet charm of a mountain village.

The hot spring—discovered by the inn’s founder—has long been valued for its therapeutic qualities, offering mineral-rich waters that warm the body deeply and leave the skin feeling supple. Throughout the year, the landscape transforms dramatically, and the views from the baths are exceptional in every season, whether framed by spring blossoms, summer fireflies, autumn foliage, or winter snow. Guests may also reserve private baths at no additional charge, allowing for an unhurried immersion in the surrounding nature.

Accommodations range from the Keiryukan, where expansive windows open toward the river’s shifting scenery, to the Ryokufukan, a beautifully preserved building designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Each space offers its own way to experience the harmony between human presence and the natural world. The inn is also celebrated for its cuisine, particularly the Yamazato Kaiseki course, which draws on pristine spring water and mountain ingredients to express the richness of the river valley and the traditions of this remote village.
