Katakai Matsuri: Asahara Shrine Autumn Grand Festival
片貝まつり浅原神社秋季例大祭
Witness the “yonshakudama,” recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest firework!
Traditional ceremonies take place throughout town starting early in the morning to pray for the safe and successful launch of the fireworks. These include “tama-okuri” (the offering of fireworks shells to Asahara Shrine) and “tsutsu-hiki” (the pulling of firework-launching tubes around town).
●Number of fireworks: Approximately 15,000 over the two-day festival.
