The Yukiguni Agripark Yuzawa Strawberry Village is the best place to enjoy Niigata’s special brand of strawberry, Echigo-hime! Located inside a greenhouse, you can pick strawberries come rain, snow, or sunshine. After picking to your heart’s content, chow down in the farm’s resthouse. Echigo-hime strawberries are known for their bulky size, soft and juicy texture, and strong sweetness. As winter in Niigata is cold and dark, the Echigo-hime strawberries harvested between January and June ripen slowly, storing up nutrients from flowering to picking to yield a large size and sweet taste without sourness. The farm’s opening hours and price changes depending on the conditions of the strawberries, so be sure to check the official website before visiting.
