This local line traverses a total length of approximately 135 kilometers, connecting Koide Station in Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture and Aizu-Wakamatsu Station in Aizu Wakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture.

From the windows, you can see the idyllic countryside scenery, including fields growing Uonuma’s specialty Koshihikari rice, Mount Gongendo towering over water-filled paddies, and Aburuma River valley. Autumn and winter are especially beautiful, as the former boasts a breathtaking visual collaboration between the colorful foliage and impressive valley, and the latter offers snowy scenery that looks like it is straight out of an ink painting.

Not only is the scenery from the windows of the Tadami Line incredible, but the train itself running through the majestic natural landscape is so stunning that it draws photographers from around the country.

Each season offers spectacular wonders: the contrast between the fresh verdure, melting snow, and mountain cherry blossoms in the spring; the refreshing mountain greenery and bright red snow sheds in the summer; the beauty of the Suezawa River valley with the vivid foliage of the beech forest in the autumn; and the Tadami Line running magnificently through the snowy terrain of Uonuma, one of Japan’s snowiest regions, in the winter. With so much to see throughout the year, the train will keep beckoning you back to witness the seasonal sights.
